Archikad designing a house. How to draw a room plan in ArchiCAD

Hello dear visitors of the interior design school! Today I want to tell you how, using the program ArchiCAD 15 can be easily done ( trace out)floor plan (apartments) and at the same time get a three-dimensional model of the room.

Initially, I worked on plans for an apartment in AutoCad, and then exported the plans drawn in AutoCad to 3dsMax, and built a 3d model based on them. But one day fate turned in such a way that I had to deal with ArchiCAD, and over time, it became clear that in this program you can draw floor plans simultaneously with building a three-dimensional model. Accordingly, this has significantly reduced design and project time.

Since then I have been using ArchiCAD in my work, and for photorealistic rendering of interiors I still use 3dsMax + Vray.

At our school of interior design, teaching is based on the use of ArchiCAD. Therefore, there will be a series of lessons dedicated to this program. Try my method of work - it may work for you as well.

So, ArchiCAD 15. Of course, this program is professional and it has a lot of possibilities. However, to successfully work with her in the field of interior design, it is enough to master only a few basic points.

The program is commercial and to get it officially, you need to buy it. You can also download a free trial version on the official ArchCAD website for a limited time period. And of course, a variety of file hosting sites, where you can download any version of ArchiCAD for free.

In this lesson, we will draw an arbitrary room. In the future, when you work with a specific room, you will need the initial plans of the room, apartment or house for drawing. For this, it is necessary to prepare in advance measurement drawings or an apartment plan from the technical passport.

Let's say you have installed ArchCAD 15. Start the program by clicking on the icon. Depending on the version, the principle of the program does not change, so you can work in any version that you can install. I am working in the latest version to date - ArchCAD 15 Int.

Before opening the working window of the program, a welcome window will appear, where you will be asked to create a new file or open any existing one, since you do not have existing files yet - select create a new one (other default settings) and click New.

After a while, the ArchiCAD working window will open in front of you. Now you can start drawing directly.

As noted earlier in our course, in construction, it is customary to keep all dimensions in millimeters. For this reason, in ArchiCAD, all dimensions are also entered in millimeters at full size. For example, if the height of the wall is 2.5 m, then in ArchiCAD the size will be indicated as - 2500 mm.

1. So, let's start with the walls. Select the wall tool from the toolbar located at the left edge of the screen. Double click on the icon and go to the wall settings. Here we set all the dimensions of the wall we need: height, thickness and location relative to the axis, click the OK button and proceed to the direct construction of the wall.

We move the cursor to the origin of coordinates (black cross on the screen) and wait for the cursor to change its appearance from a small cross to a check mark. As soon as the cursor has changed the view, click on the origin point and move the cursor to the right in the direction of the wall construction. To fix the wall you are drawing in a horizontal (or vertical) position, press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard.

To set the wall to a fixed size, without releasing the Shift key, press the R key, in the dimension status window, enter the required wall size in millimeters and press the Enter key.

The specified wall will appear on the screen. Draw the rest of the walls by analogy. With each newly created wall, snap to the previous one. Watch the anchor to the drawn walls (the cursor should change to a check mark at the anchor points).

2. Add doors.

Let's follow the list further and add (draw) the door to our plan. Select the door tool from the toolbar. Double-click on the button - we get into the settings for the properties of the doors. Choose the right door and its dimensions and move on to the room plan.

Move the cursor over the section of the wall where the door should be. When the cursor changes to a Mercedes sign, click once on the wall and wait for the eye cursor to appear. This sign means the side to which the door will open. Move the cursor outside the room so that the door opens outward and click on an empty field of the screen to complete the process of creating (drawing) the door.

As mentioned earlier, ArchiCAD is a professional program, and the sizes of all elements in it are standard. This greatly facilitates the design process, because you do not have to constantly adjust the dimensions of the elements.

3. Add windows

Now we can add windows to our room. The creation (drawing) of windows is similar to the creation of doors. Select the window tool, set the required dimensions.

From doors, the creation of a window differs only in the parameter - the height of the window sill. Set the required height of the window sill or leave it at the default, and insert windows on the plan at the required sections of the wall. You have to figure it out yourself. Remember about the window orientation, which is set, by analogy with doors, using the cursor in the form of an eye icon.

4. Add the floor and ceiling to the room

To trace (add) a floor to a room. Select the Slab tool from the toolbar. In its settings, you can also set the thickness, height, etc. This is not needed in our tutorial, so we leave all the settings unchanged, click OK, and go to the plan. With the cursor we cling to some inner corner of the room, click on it and drag the future overlap to the opposite corner of the room. Finish creating the floor by clicking on the required corner of the room. The slab will automatically be drawn on the plan.

The ceiling in the room is created in the same way, with the only difference that the construction must be carried out on the second floor of the room.

Congratulations, this concludes the room modeling. It remains only to size the room.

5. We calculate the area of the room

When you have drawn the room, it remains to measure it. It is very easy to do this in ArchiCAD. Select the Zone tool from the toolbar. You don't need to change anything in the settings of this tool. Just set the name of the room in the appropriate field:

Press the OK button and go to the room plan. We hold down the space bar on the keyboard and double-click inside the room with the left mouse button. The calculated area and other parameters of the room will appear on the room plan in the form of a plate.

With a finer setting of the parameters, you can set the exact information that should be displayed in the room parameters plate.

6. Dimension the room

It remains only to learn how to apply the required dimensions. Usually, the dimensions are combined into dimensional chains and placed horizontally and vertically in the rooms. To do this, select the "Dimensions" tool on the toolbar and, without changing the standard settings, go to the room plan. Now with the active tool "Dimensions", click on the elements of the room that need to be dimensioned. When the element is being dimensioned, then small markers-circles appear next to it, which indicate that the element is captured for dimensioning.

When you, in this way, go through all the necessary elements of the plan, first horizontally located, bring the cursor to the free space and double-click to display the ruler of dimensions. Do the same for the vertically positioned elements of the room.

As a result, after all the above actions, you should have a plan similar to this.

Now for some magic. Press the F3 key on your keyboard and you will get a 3d model of your newly drawn room.

In this regard, I hasten to congratulate you, you have just created (drew) your first drawing of the room plan, and at the same time its 3d model in the ArchiCAD program.

Of course, such a plan is still far from perfect, but his task was only to acquaint you with the drawing process in the ArchiCAD program. When you have a good grasp of the basic principles of modeling discussed in this lesson, we will move on to a higher level and learn how to arrange furniture and work in a 3d window.

And on this lesson on drawing a room plan in ArchiCAD 15 is over. See you soon in the next lessons of the school of interior design.

ArchiCAD Is a graphic CAD software package for architects created by Graphisoft. Designed for the design of architectural and building structures and solutions, as well as landscape elements, furniture, etc.

The package uses the concept of a virtual building. Its essence lies in the fact that the ArchiCAD project is a full-size volumetric model real building existing in the computer memory. For its implementation, the designer at the initial stages of work with the project actually "builds" the building, using tools that have their full counterparts in reality: walls, ceilings, windows, stairs, various objects, etc. After completing work on the "virtual building », The designer gets the opportunity to extract a variety of information about the designed object: floor plans, facades, sections, explications, specifications, presentation materials, etc. Supports interaction with various engineering programs through the IFC format.

How to draw the foundation of a house in ArchiCAD? Until recently, I was not aware of this issue. Thanks to the author of the following video, which shows the process of creating a foundation plan in ArchiCAD. And, as always, I will first give you the drawing steps, and only then I will provide the video material.

Drafting a foundation plan in ArchiCAD

The ArchiCAD process begins by creating a grid of axes. You can see them below in the diagram. Vertical axes are indicated by numbers and horizontal axes by letters.

After that, we proceed to setting up the walls, choosing "Stone Block" from the special menu - for more details see the video.

The next stage is the choice of building the lines of the foundation blocks in the drawing. Available on information models, for a start, you need to select the rectangle tool with which you can draw the outer walls of the foundation.

From the lower left intersection of the axes, drag the foundation contour to the right and upward (using the rectangle tool). The next step in drawing the foundation plan in ArchiCAD (archicad) will be drawing the inner walls (for this, you need to change the rectangle tool from the navigation menu to a straight line).

After that, you need to draw walls on, after setting up the wall tool (in this example, the height of the wall is 1880, its thickness is 500, the elevation above the floor level is 300).

Everything is configured and now, on top of the foundation slabs, it is necessary to draw walls (see also, as well). Using the tool archicada wall, you need to place the pointer over the intersection of the axes and, as described above, drag it towards the desired intersection of the axes.

Architecture is incredibly complex. It is necessary not only to clearly demonstrate how the building will look from any side: you need to make all its drawings to the smallest detail and provide an opportunity for a comprehensive perception of the project from any angle using a three-dimensional model. This was done on paper and out of paper - exactly as long as modern technologies did not provide software that could do the same much faster and better. Until the Archicad appeared.
Archicad program like a system computer-aided design, turned out to be an extremely popular tool for architects, engineers, as well as a number of other specialists, whose activities were in dire need of a high-quality drawing program on a computer.

Naturally, on the software market there is another, quite popular computer-aided design system - a program for designing houses AutoCAD, however, unlike the new item, it is more cumbersome, much more difficult to learn and does not provide the same innovative opportunities in the design process frame houses and buildings in general.
As we can see, Archikad is not the first CAD system focused on architectural tasks, but it proved to be the first system to provide all the possibilities at a modest cost. This was not only the main task of the developers, but also the goal of the entire project, and it should be noted that they achieved it.

And yet, why is the Archicad program so popular among professionals? It’s not just a matter of cost: to win the respect of specialists, it’s not enough to provide them with an inexpensive software product. It turned out to be a matter of possibilities. Archikad allows you to qualitatively create not only the drawings themselves, but also all the necessary specifications, as well as any necessary three-dimensional models.

As the user is working on his project, he can add his comments to it, which is very important for the designer.

The program allows you to set any scale in the work and work out any, even the smallest, details. This allows you not to spend a lot of time every time drawing additional elements, and in some cases the details can be copied from the standard catalog provided by the developer.

For those who want to try the system in action, we suggest downloading a free Russian version of archicad for Windows 32 bit or 64 bit and MAC OS X (links at the bottom of the article).

In addition, the arsenal of the program for drawing on a computer also includes a set of tools that allow you to work with databases. finished projects... And, of course, the program provides everything you need for comfortable work - so that sending by e-mail, visualization, printing, publishing of what was done are as accurate, convenient and functional as possible. For a Russian-speaking audience, it will come in handy wonderful support for the Russian language... Moreover, both the training of a beginner and the expansion of the capabilities of an advanced user are provided not only by the most detailed documentation, but also by thematic manuals provided by the developers themselves (this information can be found, among other things, on the official website of the software).

A very important feature of the program is that, if desired, the designer can put in any file not only professional information that is understandable to specialized specialists, but also information that is significant for the client, for whose tasks the work is being carried out. This becomes an excellent support when interacting with project customers, preventing possible inaccuracies and even conflicts that often arise due to the human factor. Well, the significant cost savings due to the economical allocation of time resources is the hallmark of the program.

Advantages of the Archikad computer-aided design system:

  • the process of developing a large-scale project often requires many projections, which it is desirable to access quickly. Archikad is able to memorize such projections in unlimited quantity, and using them and looking at the project will allow a tablet of images;
  • the scrollbars of the application are implemented in the windows of sections and plans and in the process of work allow you to quickly access any point of the worksheet, which is not limited in its space;
  • many pictograms are placed directly on floor plans- access to them can be obtained always and without problems;
  • if you double-click the icons, you can use increasing or decreasing factors.
  • users of the program have full control over the development process and have full access to the entire volume of design materials at any stage;
  • a three-dimensional perspective is automatically built on the basis of design data;
  • if any changes are made to any project drawing, these changes are also automatically made to the completed one as it is completed design work design documentation, reducing the burden on documentary filmmakers;
  • a large list of extensions;
  • systematic updating of system libraries and software generally;
  • ample opportunities for the design of frame houses and furniture;
  • the ability to download a free version of archicad in Russian from the developer's official website.

All this makes ArchiCAD the most the best choice for the user associated with architectural and construction activities(design, drawing), because this program is low-cost and at the same time has so much extensive functionality that it is extremely difficult to find an analogue for it.

ArchiCAD is one of the most popular programs for the design of buildings and structures. Its work is based on Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. This technology involves the creation of a digital copy of the projected building, from which you can get any information about it, from orthogonal drawings and three-dimensional images, to estimates for materials and reports on the energy efficiency of the building.

The main advantage of the technologies used in Archikad is the tremendous time savings for the release of project documentation. Creating and editing projects is fast and easy thanks to an impressive library of elements, as well as the ability to instantly rebuild the building in connection with the changes made.

With the help of Archikad, you can prepare a draft solution for a future house, on its basis, develop structural elements and issue full-fledged drawings for construction that meet the requirements of GOST.

Let's consider the main functions of the program using the example of its latest version - Archicad 19.

In the floor plan window, the house is created from a top view. To do this, Archikad uses tools for walls, windows, doors, stairs, roofs, floors and other elements. The drawn elements are not just two-dimensional lines, but full-fledged volumetric models that carry a large number of customizable parameters.

Archikad has a very important "Zone" tool. With the help of it, the areas and volumes of premises are easily calculated, information is given on the interior decoration, modes of operation of the premises, etc.

With the help of "Zones" you can set up the calculation of areas with a configurable factor.

In Archikad, tools for applying dimensions, texts and marks are very conveniently implemented. Dimensions automatically snap to elements and change when changes are made to the building geometry. Levels can also be snapped to blank floor and landing surfaces.

Creation of a three-dimensional model of a building

Building elements can be edited in the 3D projection window. In addition to the fact that the program allows you to twist the building model and "walk" over it, it also allows you to display the model with real textures, its wireframe or sketch view.

The 3D window provides a full range of editing for the Curtain Wall tool. This structure is often used to model the facades of public buildings. In a three-dimensional projection, you can not only create a curtain wall, but also edit its configuration, add and remove panels and profiles, change their color and size.

In 3D projection, you can create freeform shapes, edit and change the arrangement of elements, and model profiled structures. It is convenient to place figures of people, models of cars and vegetation in this window, without which it is difficult to imagine the final three-dimensional visualization.

Do not forget that elements that are not needed at the moment can be easily hidden using the "Layers" function.

Using library parts in projects

Continuing the topic of secondary elements, it should be said that Archikad's libraries contain a large number of models of furniture, fences, accessories, equipment, and engineering devices. All this helps to more accurately design the house and create detailed visualization without resorting to using other programs.

If the required library elements are not found, you can add models downloaded from the Internet to the program.

Work in facades and sections

Archicad creates full-fledged sections and elevations for design documentation. In addition to drawing dimensions, leader lines, level marks and other mandatory elements of such drawings, the program offers to diversify drawings by applying shadows, contours, various display of textures and materials. You can also place figures of people in the drawing for clarity and understanding of scale.

Thanks to background data processing technology, the images of facades and sections are updated at high speed when making edits to the model of the house.

Design of multilayer structures

Archikad has a very useful function for creating structures from several layers. In the corresponding window, you can set the number of layers, define their building material, set the thickness. The resulting structure will be displayed on all relevant drawings, the places of its intersections and joints will be correct (if configured accordingly), the amount of material will be calculated.

The building materials themselves are also created and edited in the program. The display method is set for them, physical characteristics etc.

Counting the amount of materials used

A very important function that allows you to draw up specifications and estimates. The material counting setup is very flexible. The introduction of one or another material into the specification can be carried out according to a fairly large number of parameters.

Automatic material counting provides significant convenience. For example, Archikad instantly adds up the amount of material in curved structures or in walls that are clipped for a roof. Of course, calculating them manually would take much more time and would not differ in accuracy.

Assessment of the energy efficiency of a building

Archikad has an advanced function with which it is possible to evaluate heating engineering design solutions in accordance with the parameters of the local climate. In the corresponding windows, the modes of operation of premises, climatic data, information about the environment are selected. The analysis of the energy efficiency of the model is presented in a report, which indicates the thermal performance of the structures, the amount of energy consumption and the energy balance.

Create photorealistic images

The program implements the possibility of photorealistic rendering using the professional Cine Render engine. It has a huge number of settings for materials, environment, light and atmosphere. It is possible to use HDRI-maps to create a more realistic picture. This rendering engine does not differ in gluttony and can work on computers of average performance.

For sketch design, it is possible to render a completely white model or stylize it like a sketch.

In the render settings, you can select templates for rendering. Preconfigured parameters for finishing and roughing interior and exterior renders.

A nice little thing - you can run a preview of the final rendering at low resolution.

Creation of layouts of drawings

The Archicad software environment provides tools for publishing ready-made drawings. Convenience of documentation execution consists of:

- in the possibility of placing any number of images with customizable scales, titles, frames and other attributes on the drawing sheet;
- in the use of pre-compiled templates for project sheets in accordance with GOST.

The information displayed in the project stamps is set automatically in accordance with the settings. The finished drawings can be immediately sent for printing or saved in PDF format.

Collaboration

Thanks to Archikad, several specialists can participate in the design process of a house. Working on one model, architects and engineers work in a strictly designated area. As a result, the speed of project release increases, the number of edits in the decisions made is minimized. You can work on a project autonomously and remotely, while the system guarantees the safety and security of the project's working files.

So we examined the main functions of Archicad, comprehensive program for the professional design of houses. More details about the capabilities of Archikad can be found in the Russian-language reference manual, which is installed along with the program.

Advantages:

- The ability to conduct a full design cycle from sketch solutions to the release of drawings for construction.
- High speed of creation and editing of project documentation.
- The ability to work collectively on a project.
- The function of background data processing allows you to do fast calculations on computers with average performance.
- Friendly and comfortable working environment with a lot of settings.
- Ability to obtain high-quality 3D visualization and animation.
- Possibility of carrying out an energy assessment of the building project. You need JavaScript enabled to vote
