The building is on a 100 ruble note. Central Bank issues new hundred-ruble bills in honor of Crimea and Sevastopol

The Central Bank has issued new 100-ruble bills. The commemorative collection was supplemented by the series of coins "Artek" and "Defense of Sevastopol". The event took place on December 23, 2015. The circulation of the issue was only 20 million banknotes. Obviously, the new bill will not be in circulation, but will remain in the album as a souvenir and a reminder of an event in the modern history of Russia. In the article, we will consider the characteristics of an unusual hundred ruble.

general information

In 2015, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation received information about the possibility of a new bill dedicated to Crimea and Sevastopol. The design of the hundred ruble was not hidden. Initially, it was known that it was planned to depict the sights of the republic and Sevastopol on the banknote.

The new 100 rubles (“Crimea”) are significantly different from ordinary banknotes. The drawing on them is made not horizontally, but vertically. Outwardly, the banknote is much more beautiful than the usual Bank of Russia tickets. The design of the issue is similar to the 2013 Winter Olympic Games banknotes. The new 100-ruble banknotes "Sochi-2014" were made on high-quality paper with a predominance of blue colors, the pattern on them was placed vertically. "Crimean" banknotes became the second original issue of the Central Bank of Russia.

About design

The 2015 stamps are made in a standard size - 150 mm long and 65 mm wide. The color of the banknotes is olive green. The front side is dedicated to Sevastopol. The main image applied to it is the Monument to the Scuttled Ships - a fragment of the famous painting by the artist IK Aivazovsky "Russian squadron on the Sevastopol roadstead." In addition to this drawing on the banknote, you can see:

  • city plan;
  • architectural and historical monuments in the form of a schematic drawing;
  • fragment of the 1941-1942 Memorial dedicated to the heroic defense of Sevastopol.

On the reverse side of Russia in 2015 there are thematic images of "Crimea". The main drawing is "The Swallow's Nest". In the background - a view of the Ayu-Dag mountain and the Parus rock, a schematic representation of the mosque of the Khan's palace, the RT-70 radio telescope, a vine.

At the bottom of the bill, you can find a QR code, which encrypts a link to the website of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. The banknote depicts a portrait of Catherine II in profile.

Historical background on figures

On the banknote of 100 rubles "Crimea" you can see architectural monuments, inventions that are associated with the republic and the city of Sevastopol. Not everyone is strong in history to understand the meaning of banknote design. Consider the characteristics of each object of the new hundred-ruble bill:

  1. The Empress of which is depicted as a watermark, by the Manifesto of April 8, 1783, secured the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula to the Russian Empire. A little less than a year later, she issued a decree on the foundation of the Sevastopol fortress.
  2. The monument to the sunken ships was erected in 1905 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the defense of Sevastopol. This is the key event of the Crimean War. For 11 months, Russian soldiers and sailors heroically defended the city, blocking the entrance to enemy ships.
  3. The memorial of the defense of Sevastopol in the Great Patriotic War - during the Nazi occupation of the Crimean peninsula was very interesting to Hitler. Already on November 5, 1941, the first hostilities began on the outskirts of the city. Soviet troops bravely repelled three German offensives, which continued until July 1942, after which Sevastopol was still captured. The memorial looks like three bayonets resting on the palm of a soldier, which means two repelled attacks and a tragic occupation.
  4. The Swallow's Nest castle was built in 1912 on the spur of Monastyr-Burun by the design of engineer L. V. Sherwood. It has become a symbol of Crimea and its main attraction.
  5. The Khan's Mosque is the first building of the Khan's Palace, built back in 1532. One of the largest religious buildings.
  6. Radio telescope RT-70 - was manufactured in 1978 near Evpatoria. The world's largest device with a mirror diameter of 70 m.
  7. The Cathedral of Prince Vladimir in Sevastopol is an architectural and historical monument made in the neo-Byzantine style. Before the construction of the temple, a crypt with the graves of admirals who died in the Crimean War (V.I.Istomin, V.A.Kornilov, P.S.Nakhimov) was located on the territory.

The new 100-ruble bills convey the history of the peninsula and mark the main event of 2014 - the return of Crimea to Russia.

Signs of authenticity

Any banknote put into circulation by the Central Bank is reliably protected from counterfeiting. Insignia allow you to verify the authenticity of the bill. The easiest way to check is with a lumen. When viewing a banknote under bright lighting, you should pay attention to the following distinguishing features:

  • in the upper part, on a light field, there is a watermark - a portrait of Catherine II;
  • The security thread embedded in the paper of a hundred ruble looks like a dark stripe in the light, on which light images of the ruble currency symbol are repeated.

In addition, the original 100 rubles produced in 2015 also have objects with increased relief: the text “STO RUBLES” and “TICKET OF THE BANK OF RUSSIA”, digital designation “100”, a label for visually impaired, strokes.

You can also check the authenticity of the bill using a magnifying glass. What can be seen in the original at a magnification of 8-10 times, we will consider later in the article.

Microimages on a banknote

The new 100-ruble bills, like many common Central Bank tickets, are protected by small images. It is difficult to counterfeit them, so it is important to check the presence of trace elements in case of doubts about the authenticity of money. Using a magnifying glass, magnifying the image 8-10 times, you can see the following micro-drawings:

  • part of the background of the banknote is made of small graphic images;
  • on the upper edge of the balcony of the Swallow's Nest castle there is a repeating microtext “CRIMEA”;
  • under the memorial to the defense of Sevastopol, the word "SEVASTOPOL" is repeated;
  • on the border of the graphic images on the left and right of the banknote, the number “100” is repeated.

When you change the angle of view, you can also observe the characteristic signs of the authenticity of the banknote, including: a change in the color of the denomination digits, the ruble symbol on the ornamental strip (visible at an acute angle), the effect of displacement of the digits of the repeating number "100" on the sides of the bill.

"Crimean" coins

In addition to banknotes, the Central Bank has issued several types of themed coins. Among them:

  • 3 rubles "Artek" - dedicated to the children's camp, which celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2015. On the back you can see the panorama, the Ayu-Dag mountain and the colored logo of "Artek". The circulation was 1000 pcs.
  • A series of five-ruble notes dedicated to the memory of the Second World War and soldiers who fought on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula. The circulation was 10 million pieces.

The chance to get change with "Crimean" money is small - the circulation of the issue of coins and banknotes is too small to enter circulation. In addition, they are too unusual, beautiful and memorable to pay for purchases with them. You can buy bills and coins in commercial banks and numismatists. The purchase price will cost at least 2 times more than the face value of "Crimean" money.

New 100-ruble bills dedicated to the Crimean Peninsula were issued in December 2015. Second-tier banks were involved in the sale. Banknotes are recognized as legal means of payment and are accepted at face value throughout the Russian Federation.

New money appeared in Russia: 100 rubles 2018 FIFA World Cup... This is a commemorative banknote dedicated to the FIFA 2018 World Cup held in Russia for the first time. Collectors have been waiting for it for a long time.

100 rubles 2018 FIFA World Cup

Banknote 100 rubles issued by the Central Bank on May 22, 2018, printed by Goznak. The predominant colors of the banknote are blue-green.

This is how the Bank of Russia describes the new 100 rubles:

The artistic composition of the front side of the banknote symbolizes the continuity of generations - the boy dreams of repeating the achievements of great football players such as goalkeeper Lev Yashin, whose name is inscribed in the history of world football.

On the reverse side there is a flying soccer ball, symbolizing the globe, on which the map of Russia is highlighted. Below are the names of the cities where the championship matches will be held.

And this is how Goznak describes 100 rubles for the 2018 FIFA World Cup:

For the first time in the history of Russia, a specific person is depicted on a banknote - an outstanding Soviet footballer, the best goalkeeper of the 20th century, Lev Yashin. Also, for the first time, the Bank of Russia has put into circulation a banknote made on a polymer basis.

The banknote was issued with a circulation of 20 million rubles. It is intended for collecting by football and bonistics lovers. She can be paid in stores as with ordinary money, but hardly anyone wants to part with her if she falls into the hands. It is better to leave it to yourself as a souvenir of the grand event in Russia in 2018, especially since the denomination of the bill is small, there will be no temptation to spend it.

Other 100 rubles

Commemorative hundred-ruble bills are not issued for the first time:

The central bank plans to issue a new 100-ruble banknote in 2018, dedicated to the World Cup, which will be held in Russia.

The banknote will be special not only due to its unique design, but also due to an unusual material for our country - plastic. According to the regulator's idea, the new bills in Russia in 2018 should become recognizable all over the world.

But the plans of the Central Bank for the new 100 rubles are not limited to the PR of the World Cup. The Central Bank does not exclude that the issue of plastic banknotes will be the beginning of the refusal to issue paper money. The launch of the new format banknote will make it possible to assess the prospects for issuing plastic money in Russia.

About the new banknote

The new banknote is already preparing to see the light of day, but so far little is known about it, so for many citizens it will be a real surprise.

So what is known for certain about the new means of payment? As usual, the release of something new is dedicated to major events in the state. The last time the money underwent minor changes during the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Now the bankers have decided to take a radical step and have made serious changes, both in the design and in the material of money. Then the banknotes were sold in a circulation of 20 million, this time there will be an order of magnitude less - only 20 thousand.

It all started a few years ago, when a special commission was convened for the issue, which was engaged in the adoption and consideration of projects for the appearance of a bank note. Each Russian had the opportunity to submit his own version. In the process, 49 competitive works were submitted, of which 6 were selected - the most expressive and extraordinary.

According to the terms of the competition, at first only three prizes were calculated, but a little later this figure had to be increased. So, the authors of the most interesting projects received gratitude from the Central Bank and an award of 30 thousand rubles

One of the goals pursued by the organizers of the competition was to make the banknote the most recognizable in the world. Representatives of the regulator also announced other motives - to popularize sports, to interest not only collectors and fans, but also ordinary citizens. It is not known how much they achieved their goal - only time will tell.

Also, special emphasis was placed on production materials. These are polymers that wear out for a rather long time and due to a special composition and are protected from fakes. The new money will become a full-fledged means of payment throughout the country.

The Central Bank has long been hatching the idea of abandoning paper money and the eve of the World Cup will be an excellent start for its implementation. This is a kind of pilot project for polymer money.

But now there are no specific plans for the further development of this area. Everything will be decided after the fact, depending on how this denomination will prove itself. It is also unknown how much funds are needed for large-scale production and whether it will be beneficial to the economy.
Perhaps, if the experiment succeeds, a complete replacement of paper with plastic will be made.

Benefits of plastic money

The prospect of issuing plastic banknotes in Russia raises the question of what is their advantage over paper ones. The main plus is quite obvious - polymer banknotes are more durable.

Such banknotes do not absorb moisture, dirt and dust, they are much more difficult to tear or wrinkle, so they do not wear out longer.

Thus, paper money can be in circulation for about 6 months, after which it is withdrawn due to damage, while plastic bills can last up to 3 years. In addition, studies have shown that they are more hygienic as they harbor less bacteria.

Another advantage is environmental friendliness. The production of polymer banknotes requires less production capacity, and it is much easier to process money withdrawn from circulation than paper money. It is also worth noting that reducing paper consumption helps reduce the number of trees felled.

Also, plastic bills are recognized as economical, although this is a rather controversial issue. On the one hand, issuing them requires more costs than paper money, but thanks to the durability of polymer banknotes, the costs pay off in the long term.

Many experts point out that plastic bills are more difficult to counterfeit. Modern printing technologies make it possible to create banknotes with additional security that cannot be falsified.

But this is also a controversial position, since today fraudsters have equipment with which they counterfeit the most complex banknotes.

The disadvantages of plastic money should also be mentioned. The main disadvantage is the complexity of the transition from paper notes to polymer ones. So, it is necessary to adapt all ATMs for issuing new money, as well as replace equipment for detecting counterfeit banknotes. Because of this, the introduction of plastic banknotes into circulation costs the country an impressive amount, which pays off in more than one year.

Central Bank plans for the future

There is information that the Central Bank of Russia will not be limited to one “hundred square meters” in the future. Banknotes in denominations of 200 and 2,000 rubles will soon, quite possibly, await an update, taking into account the latest developments of the Central Bank in relation to banknotes. Perhaps both will become plastic, perhaps only one of these bills. In any case, changing at least one of them was to the liking of a wide range of people.

The banknote of 100 rubles, as we said above in the text, will enter circulation literally on the eve of the 2018 World Cup. Back in 2016, there was news that the possibility of making a commemorative "money" using an unusual material was being considered. As a result, this became a polymer, in particular plastic, that is, plastic.

Some time after that, Georgy Luntovsky, mentioned earlier in the text, personally argued why a plastic banknote is the most reasonable solution among all possible: because it is more durable, although a little more money will be spent on its production, unlike plain paper.

A denomination of 100 rubles - for the 2018 FIFA World Cup!

It is known that the circulation of this commemorative banknote is limited to 20 million copies. Exactly the same number was issued by the Bank of Russia a little earlier, when the Olympic Games were held in Sochi in 2014. However, the "hundred-ruble" then were paper. Now the focus is on plastic.

Prospects for Russia's transition to plastic money after 2018

It is too early to talk about a complete transition to a new material of money, and hardly anyone will give an accurate forecast regarding this issue.

At the moment, the main regulator does not deny the idea of switching to completely plastic money in circulation. However, there is no exact plan or even a strategy for this event yet. So, there is a theoretical possibility, since the equipment and experience in the production of such banknotes is already available. However, the practical implementation is still delayed, because it will entail many difficulties and problems, so the preparation itself can take more than a year and cost a lot of money.

As always, the main problem is budget financing of such projects.

The biggest costs will be entailed by the emission of plastic money - polymer materials are much more expensive than special paper. In addition, you will need to pay for technology and equipment. Now, not all printing presses will be able to cope with large-scale production.

There is also a third-party expense item - ATM adaptation. In any case, commercial organizations will have to take it upon themselves, but so far they are not ready for such serious steps and will oppose the transition to plastic in every possible way.

In the context of the economic crisis lasting for several years, the government is unlikely to want to allocate money for all this, including for banks. So while there is no alternative to paper money, and when the situation can change, hardly anyone will talk about it with a greater degree of probability.

Public opinion is also an important factor on the way of introducing innovations. Most of the population has a negative attitude towards various kinds of innovations, especially in the field of finance. The reason for this is the low level of trust in the entire system.

It may happen that the transition will cause panic, pull inflation with it, after which social tension will rise even more.

To prevent all this from happening, officials need to think over everything carefully, develop a set of measures and do everything gradually. So, it will take extra time and money.

In any case, the publication of plastic 100 ruble bills will become an event in itself, and will show further prospects for the development of this direction in Russia.

On December 23, 2015, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issued a commemorative 100 ruble banknote - the Republic of Crimea. One side of the bill is dedicated to the hero city of Sevastopol, the other to the unique nature and cultural monuments of Crimea.

Artists and technologists from Goznak, together with specialists from the Central Bank, have been working on its creation for over a year. The banknote turned out to be integral, harmonious, each side became equivalent in terms of fullness of information. As a result, each of them can be considered facial, i.e. the main one. Like the early Sochi 100 rubles issued two years ago, the new bill has a vertical orientation. But unlike the Olympic banknote - a winter blue, it is made in warm greenish summer colors. The circulation of paper 100 rubles in 2015 dedicated to the Crimea amounted to 20 million copies.

Banknote 100 rubles dedicated to Crimea, description.

On the side of the banknote dedicated to Sevastopol, the central place in the composition is occupied by the Monument to the Scuttled Ships. It was installed in 1905 right in the sea, just a few meters from the embankment in honor of the 50th anniversary of the heroic defense of Sevastopol during the Crimean War. Then, 16 specially sunk sailing ships formed two defensive lines, which prevented the enemy squadron from capturing the bay. This majestic and laconic monument has been a symbol of the city for over a hundred years.

In the background there are banknotes, a fragment of the painting “Russian squadron on the Sevastopol roadstead”. Painted by IK Aivazovsky as a marine painter who made a great contribution to the cultural life of the peninsula. On the sides of the middle part of the bill are located the sails of the Russian squadron and its symbol - the St.Andrew's flag.

To the right, below the monument, are the outlines of the Cathedral of St. Vladimir, in which the ashes of Admiral Nakhimov, who led the heroic defense of the city, rest. Even lower on the banknote is the bas-relief of the memorial of the defense of Sevastopol during the Great Patriotic War. It symbolizes the three hardest assaults of the city by the Nazis. Two repelled assaults are symbolically depicted by arrows reflected by a soldier. The third arrow penetrates the defense and reminds of the last assault that led to the siege of the city.

The designers chose a contour map of the city as a background for the lower part of the bill. which harmoniously reunites all the elements of the bill into a single historical picture reflecting the military glory of the Hero City - Sevastopol, the Black Sea base of the Russian fleet.

The central place on the side dedicated to Crimea is rightfully given to the visiting card of the peninsula - the Swallow's Nest. The miniature castle was built in 1912 in the village of Gaspra. Thanks to its grace and original architectural style, it has become one of the main attractions of the Crimea.

In the background, one can see the famous natural monuments - Mount Ayu Dag (another name for Bear Mountain) and the Parus rock standing right in the sea. At the bottom right there is an image of the Khan's mosque. To the left is a palace built in the 16th century in Bakhchisarai, which for a long time was the residence of the Crimean Khans.

On either side of the Swallow's Nest, the bill is decorated with vines. This is symbolic, because Crimea is also famous for its vineyards and local collection wines. At the very bottom of the banknote there is a drawing of the RT-70 radio telescope. It is one of the largest radio telescopes in the world, with a mirror diameter of 70 m. It allows not only to catch signals coming from space, but can itself emit electromagnetic pulses.

A note of 100 rubles Crimea, the cost, where to buy?

It is too early to talk about the established price of the banknote. But, if we take the Sochi banknote as an example, the situation is predicted as follows. Of course, they will not appear in free circulation. Since these banknotes will be distributed through commercial banks, some of the banknotes will be immediately redeemed by bank employees for souvenirs and gifts. Further, most of the rest will be cleaned up in bulk by cashiers (sellers) and their acquaintances. They will keep a few copies for themselves, and the rest will be sold to numismatic dealers. Thus, in a few days, from the beginning of the official distribution of banknotes, most of them will already be in the hands of dealers, and a very insignificant part of the total circulation will fall into circulation for a short time.

If you were not given it for change and there are no acquaintances close to the money turnover, then the question arises, how much does it cost and where to buy Crimean 100 rubles for your collection?

1. The most inexpensive offers can be found on specialized collectors forums, where these same dealers-resellers and communicate with potential buyers. But there offers are mainly wholesale, not less than 10 pieces, and mostly in packs of 100 pieces. The first copies will try to sell for 400 - 500 rubles. Then, as the initial excitement falls, the price will inevitably begin to decline. In two to three months, prices will drop to 200 rubles when sold by the piece, or wholesale 12-13 thousand per pack. The sellers there are mostly reliable, protecting their reputation, but you need to know such places, and they are not available to everyone. Sometimes it is required, the experience of being on the forum or the number of messages left in the topics, strangers are not very fond of there.

2. In ordinary online stores with wide access, such as the former Hammer. There they will already be mostly by the piece, but by 30 - 50 percent more expensive, i.e. ruble th at 200 - 300. Just keep in mind, a flea market, this is a flea market, there are always risks when buying there, and you need to look closely at the sellers.

3. In specialized online stores for collectors. Everything here is reliable and respectable, but the price will also be higher than 300 - 400 rubles. per copy. It is understandable, additional costs for advertising, salaries of employees, insurance when sent by mail, etc. A similar price will be in offline "points" for collectors and in souvenir shops that can be found anywhere.

Crimean theme in numismatics. 10 rubles in 2014, 5 and 100 rubles in 2015.

By issuing this banknote, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation made the second gift to collectors of paper banknotes. It all started with the printing in 2013 of 100 rubles dedicated to the Sochi Olympics. The Bank of Russia plans to issue a commemorative note dedicated to the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup.

In October 2014, the first commemorative coins dedicated to Crimea and Sevastopol were minted. The subjects for these coins were also the Swallow's Nest and the Monument to the Scuttled Ships. This once again underlines their importance in the symbolism of the Crimea. Almost simultaneously with the 100 ruble bill, 5 coins were issued dedicated to the protection and liberation of Crimea during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

As a result, 7 Crimean coins plus a banknote already now make up a single Crimean collection of commemorative banknotes. There will surely be many different collector's brochures to be placed in.

Signs of authenticity of 100 ruble banknotes of 2015 Crimea - Sevastopol.

By and large, the protection of a commemorative 100 ruble bill is more of a souvenir - indicative character, as is the very fact of issuing commemorative notes. Everyone understands that it will not be in monetary circulation. In addition, forging a bill with such a low denomination simply does not make sense. But the protection is performed at the highest level, like a banknote of 5000 rubles. Using her example, it is best to consider the capabilities of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation to protect its banknotes from counterfeiting. It is already becoming a tradition when issuing commemorative banknotes of the Bank of Russia to use new security developments by specialists of FGUP Goznak and new combinations of already traditional security features.

Visual and tactile elements of protection of the Crimean banknote:

  • When the light areas of the bill are translucent (in its upper part), there is a multi-tone watermark - a portrait of Empress Catherine II.
  • The microtext “Crimea” is printed on the upper edge of the first floor balcony of the “Swallow's Nest”.
  • On the side dedicated to Sevastopol, there is also a microtext. It is located directly under the memorial of the city's defense and is made in the form of the repeating word "Sevastopol".
  • When you change the angle of view, you can see the effect of moving the numbers "100". To do this, you should pay attention to the security thread under the Sunken Ships Monument.
  • The value of the denomination of the banknote shimmers from monochrome (when looking at the numbers at an angle of 90 °) to color (at an angle of inclination of 180 °).
  • For visually impaired people, there is an embossed text "Ticket of the Bank of Russia" and three parallel stripes next to it. The denomination "One Hundred Rubles" and the numbers "100" are also embossed.

On December 23, the Bank of Russia issued a commemorative 100-ruble banknote dedicated to Crimea and Sevastopol, according to the regulator's website. The circulation of the new banknote will be 20 million.

The “Crimean” side of the banknote depicts the “Swallow's Nest” castle - an architectural and historical monument, located on the 40-meter-high Aurora rock of the Ai-Todor cape in the village of Gaspra on the southern coast of Crimea. The reverse side depicts one of the symbols of Sevastopol - the Monument to Scuttled Ships in the Sevastopol Bay, which was built in 1905 for the 50th anniversary of the First Defense of Sevastopol, during which Russian sailing ships were sunk, “to block the entrance of enemy ships to the roadstead and thereby save Sevastopol ". In the background, behind the column, there is a part of Aivazovsky's painting "Russian squadron in the Sevastopol roadstead".

A distinctive feature of the new banknote is the QR code inscribed in the design, which can be found on the “Crimean” side of the banknote next to the image of the radio telescope of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory. QR does not have any protective function, however, having read it using a smartphone, the owner of the banknote will be redirected to the page of the Bank of Russia website, where you can find historical information about the commemorative banknote. The release of a commemorative note in honor of the two new Russian regions was announced back in December 2014 - then the Central Bank had already announced that its design was being developed jointly with Goznak.

The fact that the bill will be issued in December, earlier, having arrived in Crimea, was announced by the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank Georgy Luntovsky. “I came to Crimea to agree with two governors (Crimea and Sevastopol) on the design of a bill dedicated to Crimea, which will go into free circulation in December with a circulation of 20 million,” he said at the time.

Earlier, the Bank of Russia has already issued commemorative non-precious banknotes dedicated to the entry of Crimea and Sevastopol into Russia. In October 2014, the Central Bank issued a circulation of 10 million coins with a face value of 10 rubles. The reverse of the coin dedicated to Sevastopol was also engraved with the Monument to the Scuttled Ships in the Sevastopol Bay against the background of the outlines of the peninsula and the date of entry into Russia - 03/18/2014. On the reverse of the Crimean coin, the monument was replaced by the Swallow's Nest.

The last issued commemorative banknote of the Bank of Russia was a denomination of 100 rubles. Sochi 2014, dedicated to the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games, held in Sochi. The design of the banknote was also made in a vertical compositional solution, as the new "Crimean" 100 rubles. On the commemorative banknote, the artists were able to place the mountain and coastal landscapes of the Sochi region in conjunction with the sports facilities of the Olympics.
