Bank as a fortress: experts named the safest online banks. Which bank is the most reliable in Russia? Which banks are the most reliable

For those who still want to use banking services, but do not know in which bank you can take a loan or open a deposit, we offer a rating of the best banks in terms of reliability of the Russian Federation, based on the expert opinion of financial specialists and data from the Central Bank, as well as reviews of ordinary clients of these banks.

Which bank is the best to invest money in and where are the best credit conditions?

It is better to deposit money in banks where there is no state capital or where it is minimal. In such financial companies, unfortunately, the minimum annual percentage. But they provide the maximum available reliability of saving their investments. As for credit programs, the answer is not so clear: each bank has its pros or cons. In this matter, it all depends on the type of loan and the period for which it is taken.

Which bank to choose for a deposit? Let's take a closer look at this issue.

Deposits in banks are a kind of so-called passive income, when a person decides to open a deposit in a certain amount of money in order to make a profit. In addition, this type of banking operations is an independent source of income, which, accordingly, is subject to a certain tax from the state.

The main tasks of opening deposits

When investing your money in a bank, you first need to decide on the purpose of such investments. These may include:

  • accumulation of funds;
  • preservation of existing capital;
  • various loans secured by a deposit;
  • investment in the form of income from bets on the stock exchange.

Banking organizations need both to make a profit and to receive new funds, so they are trying in every possible way to attract depositors. For this, numerous programs are being developed that allow you to profitably invest your capital, but practice shows that of all such proposals, only two or three can be considered really profitable. Which bank to choose for a deposit is interesting to many.

When investing money, you must remember that not a single commercial organization will work to its own detriment, therefore, when choosing a reliable bank, you need to carefully study all its characteristics and programs.

How to choose the right investment program

Despite the fact that bank deposits are regulated and protected by law, the depositor must familiarize himself with all the basic and additional conditions established by the bank for a particular type of this operation.

These conditions may be:

  • "floating" interest on bank deposits;
  • method and periods of accrual of interest on the deposit;
  • preferential conditions for various promotions.

Deposit amounts

The amounts of investments in the bank can be very different, depending on the capabilities of the client, as well as on the conditions of the program of the bank itself. Nevertheless, it is not recommended to invest more than 1.5 million rubles, since exceeding this amount will deprive the depositor of insurance payments. Such payments are made on all deposits, even within the same bank.

Thus, if a client has a desire to make a deposit in excess of 1.5 million rubles, you need to carefully choose a bank, as well as distribute the amount of such investments. It is important to find out thoroughly what interest on deposits in banks exists.

Terms of deposits

The main of all the provisions of the deposit opening agreement is the determination of the terms for which it is calculated. Interest rates largely depend on this, since, as a rule, the longer the investment period is planned, the higher the interest paid to the depositor by the bank. Some deposits differ in that the interest rates on them directly depend on the exchange rate. The terms of investment also depend on which investment program has been chosen. In this regard, there are such types of investments as savings, children, salary, pension, etc.

Possibility of carrying out all kinds of settlement operations and partial withdrawals of funds

There are banking programs, according to which the depositor has the opportunity to use funds when carrying out certain settlement transactions, for example, utility payments, taxes, etc.

Other deposit programs allow you to partially withdraw money, or, on the contrary, replenish your account.

There are widespread programs for deposits in Moscow banks, which provide for an irreducible threshold of interest rates.

At the same time, a part of the funds that cannot be used before the expiration of the investment agreement is determined on the account.

Bank ratings

The main way to decide when choosing a bank where you can make a profitable investment of money is to look at its ratings. As a rule, such information is provided by large rating agencies, such as Rus-Rating, Expert RA and others. This is a kind of protection of the rights of bank depositors.

A potential depositor can also study information on the credit statements of a particular bank, which is published on the official website of the Central Bank, or on the Banki.ru website. Such information will be extremely reliable, which will help you make the right decision when choosing a reliable banking organization.

Financial indicators are the main information confirming that the bank can be trusted. And in order to analyze how things are going in dynamics, you just need to compare such indicators for several past periods of time. The increase in bank assets in this sense is a good sign. In addition, the size of the authorized capital, that is, the amount of its own funds, speaks volumes.

How to choose a reliable bank

In order to be able to choose the best conditions for deposits in banks, here are a few basic recommendations:

1. Before making an investment in a bank, it is necessary to check the fact that the banking organization belongs to the Russian insurance system.

2. Determine the range of banks whose profitability analysis has shown good results.

4. Find out if various commissions or fees are provided for a particular investment, as well as get acquainted with the varieties of various additional services.

5. Ask about the opinion of other depositors about the reliability of a particular bank. Which bank to choose for a deposit?

To date, there are quite a few such banking organizations. The client is determined with a choice, based, as a rule, on personal preferences, feedback from people, the location of the bank, potential material benefits for himself, etc.

The list of such banks includes:

These are not all banks in Moscow. Deposits can also be opened in other financial institutions.

The annual data provided by the Central Bank in the public domain indicate that many Russian banks are being liquidated, and after the withdrawal of their license, although depositors can withdraw the insured part of the deposit, this process does not always go without problems and within the desired time frame. Unfortunately, not every Russian is financially literate enough to independently determine the degree of reliability of a particular financial institution. Therefore, we will consider official data on which bank is recognized as the most reliable in Russia in 2019.

In this article:

What is reliability?

In a general sense, the reliability of a financial institution is its ability to fully fulfill its obligations to its customers, which is more important for depositors and creditors. To determine the degree of reliability of the bank, it is enough to study its position in the official ratings, which are formed on the basis of an assessment of the most important performance indicators.

From a large list of indicators, it is enough for a potential investor or borrower to compare only a few of the most important of them, which will help to understand whether it is worth contacting the chosen organization.

  • asset dynamics;
  • liquidity ratios;
  • net profit;
  • loan portfolio;
  • attracted deposits;
  • dependence on the funds of individuals;
  • investments in securities;
  • balance sheet figures.

It is also important to take into account the performance indicators of the organization, for which they analyze the profitability of two components: assets and capital. These data show how efficiently the financial institution uses the funds available in free circulation. If the profitability is below average, then the owners of the bank will have to constantly replenish capital by attracting additional funds. If the profitability is high, then in order to increase capital, it will be necessary to refuse large dividends.

To assess reliability, many resources additionally take into account the assessment of rating agencies, customer reviews and public surveys. The main criterion for the Central Bank is still the sufficiency of the organization's own funds.

What criteria to pay attention to when choosing?

In order to choose a reliable organization for yourself, which will help not only save the available money, but also receive additional interest, a potential client should pay attention to the following points:

  1. It needs to be clarified whether the financial institution is included in the insurance system. To do this, you can call the hotline of the insurance agency.
  2. Check before signing a contract financial performance and official ratings for the last year. To do this, you can go to the website of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, then go to the "Information on credit institutions" section, then enter the name of the institution of interest in the search bar.
  3. It will not be superfluous to study composition of founders. They can be both individuals and legal entities, however, the larger the founders are involved, the more confidence it should inspire.
  4. Interest rate on deposits and loans. An important point: the rate should not exceed the average level of the same indicator throughout the country. The average value of this indicator can be found on the website of the Central Bank in the "Dynamics" section.

Choosing one of the banks presented in the table, you can no doubt trust him with your savings or get a loan at a profit, including on a bank card with the condition of interest-free cash withdrawal (you need to check with the manager).

Which bank is better for business and savings?

If you choose an organization for the most profitable investment, then it is better to turn your attention to banks where the presence of state capital is minimal. Such institutions usually offer the highest annual interest on deposits, and there are also lucrative deposit bonuses. The following have performed well: Bank "Intesa", Raiffeisenbank, UniCredit Bank.

When choosing a bank for business, you need to focus on the term of the contract, the type of loan and the interest rate. Some offer favorable conditions for business: VTB Bank of Moscow, Rosselkhozbank, VTB 24, Gazprombank, Intesa Bank, Citibank, Rosbank, Sberbank. At the same time, it is important to thoroughly study all the pros and cons, as well as reviews from other customers, before visiting the chosen organization.

To understand which of the banks is considered the most reliable in Russia in 2019, just look at the ratings of credit institutions. Rating is an objective assessment of activity, which consists of several indicators that most clearly reflect the position.

It is very important to objectively assess the reliability of a banking institution before using its services. This is especially important if you want to make a contribution to it, i.e. invest in long-term storage of their own funds. Now many banks lose their licenses and close, and depositors are forced to wait months for compensation on their accounts.

  1. Main indicators
  • assets (net)
  • profit net
  • capital
  • loan portfolio
  • arrears
  • deposits (raised funds)
  • investments in instruments (securities).
  1. Performance indicators
  • Return on capital.
  • Return on assets.
  1. Balance indicators.
  • Instant liquidity ratio

Limits the risks of loss of solvency of a banking organization within one day. This is the ratio of assets to liabilities throughout the day. The minimum value set by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation is 15%.

  • Return on equity

It is an indicator of how effectively the organization's own funds are being used. Profitability above average may indicate a large share of a cheap client base, the placement of assets in highly profitable operations associated with risk.

The indicator is evaluated in combination with capital adequacy. Low capital adequacy means that rapid growth in equity is needed to grow assets.

With low profitability, owners will have to constantly maintain capital through injections, and with high profitability, in order to increase it, it is necessary to abandon large dividends.

When choosing the most stable financial institutions for deposits, various resources are based on the assessment of rating agencies, public opinion polls and customer reviews. When compiling the TOP, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation uses the sufficiency of its own funds.

The most reliable

Whatever indicator we consider, the first line will be occupied by Sberbank of Russia. There is nothing surprising. The largest bank with an all-Russian branch network (it has offices in all settlements, be it villages, towns, villages, not to mention cities).

The controlling block of shares of this bank belongs to the state . Its assets and capital are three times higher than those of even such a giant as VTB. Sberbank is the undisputed leader in all positions.

This is where people go to:

  • open ,
  • open a bank account,
  • issue
  • get a loan ( , ),
  • make a transfer
  • pay for goods, services,
  • transfer money from one currency to another,
  • get a cell or safe for use, etc.

If you need to securely save your savings, then we recommend that you contact Sberbank. Of course, the yield itself will not be high, now it does not exceed 6% per annum (up to 7.6% during various promotions), but the main advantage will be the fact that you will be calm for your savings.

This banking company participates in the deposit insurance system, which gives the client additional reliability. Please note that the vast majority of private firms and cooperatives that promise 15-20% per annum cannot guarantee you anything.

Of course, most citizens of our country prefer to contact Sberbank, because. it belongs to the state, and can offer its customers the most favorable and "transparent" tariffs. However, he is not the only reliable and trustworthy in the country.

At the moment, there are data only for the end of 2018, because. ratings are compiled on the basis of the final figures for the year. Here is the most up-to-date information on assets collected in the reliability rating of Russian banks (in brackets - the number of assets in thousand rubles).

The most reliable banks for deposits: TOP-10 Russian banks

  • (27 948 167 428),
  • (13 747 721 706),
  • (6 476 874 005),

Understanding and understanding which are the most reliable banks in Russia is important not only for a potential investor who wants to profitably use their free funds. A citizen who intends to take out a loan also needs this: suddenly the bank “bursts”, the appointed management company will probably cancel the benefits and indulgences, and the previously quite lifting debt will turn out to be a heavy burden.

But the stars and ratings mean little. Which bank, year after year, stayed in the top ten, developed the widest network of ATMs in the Russian Federation, and now its license has been revoked by the Central Bank, and rightly so? Master Bank, remember. And who, before 2014, had heard of the Khanty-Mansiysk Bank, Orient Express, or the Asia-Pacific Bank in Blagoveshchensk? Today they are in the first hundred Forbes in Russia, and this means something. Political rhetoric is rhetoric, but Forbes knows its business and clearly sees the rise in turnover with the East.

The purpose of this article is not only to give a reliability rating of Russian banks, but also to show how it is determined by Fitch, Moody's, Standard & Poor's and the National Rating Agency of Russia. The fact is that economists have not yet developed a unified methodology for determining the reliability of a bank. And the situation in the financial sector has not stagnated and should not stagnate in any way. And having figured out how to calculate the solidity of a bank, you can then estimate it yourself - official data from its website is enough for this.

The degree of reliability defined by foreign RAs and NRAs often differs significantly. This does not mean at all that one of them is lying. Just everyone looks from their own bell tower. Foreigners - according to their indicators, i.e. for us - abroad. And NRA - primarily in terms of domestic turnover.

Further, one must assume that these estimates will diverge even more. Recent events in politics clearly show that the Russian Federation has finally decided not to follow the "world legal order" more blindly, which, it must be said, has discredited itself a lot, but to develop as an independent world center.

Therefore, the Russian economy must inevitably strive to increase the degree of autarky, i.e. self-sufficiency. For an investor, the conclusion is simple: I plan to operate in rubles - I need to focus more on the NRA, and keep Forbes in mind for comparison. I want to deal with currency - on the contrary.

What makes a bank reliable?

To determine which banks are the most reliable, we will consider, in terms of reliability, which of the largest and largest banks fit into which, and then bring everything together. This applies to domestic turnover, for deposits abroad there will be a separate summary.

State support

Russia is perhaps the only country in the world that is fully provided with vital natural resources. Therefore, in Russia, the most important indicator of a bank's strength is its state support. It is expressed either directly, in the form of a share of shares owned by the treasury, or indirectly, in the form of participation in various state programs.

By this parameter, Sberbank is definitely the first. It firmly holds more than 25% of the internal money turnover, has guarantees of infusions from the treasury at any time up to 700 billion rubles. The bank also has its own payment system that competes with Visa and MasterCard, which many already call national.

The next one is Rosselkhozbank. It is completely state-owned, 100% of the shares belong to the state. Investors from outside are allowed, but they are not given free will, which, by the way, does not scare them off at all: the guarantees of investments are absolute.

Next comes VTB with its subsidiaries VTB24 and the Bank of Moscow. The share of the treasury in them exceeds 70%. And, finally, Gazprombank. Although there seems to be no direct investments from the treasury in it, but what energy trade means for the Russian Federation, and whether it is easy for Putin to argue with Miller, there is no need to explain.

Liquidity

Liquidity, or an indicator of capital adequacy, is, roughly speaking, how much money and valuables are in the vaults of the bank relative to them, hovering somewhere in circulation. Since the Russian Federation is able to achieve complete autarky, with a liquidity of 10%, a bank focused on domestic turnover is already firmly on its feet.

But liquidity is a double-edged sword. Bags with stacks of banknotes lying around in the basement do not bring income, they can only be eaten away. Money has to work. In the conditions of the Russian Federation, liquidity of more than 25% means that the bank does not manage money well and the investment in it is risky.

The liquidity bracket currently includes Raffeisen, Uralsib, Home Credit, Citibank and MDM, in addition to those mentioned above. Almost falling short of it, with positive dynamics, Russian Standard, Rosbank, Moscow Credit Bank and Vozrozhdenie.

In total, more than 40 Russian banks fit into the liquidity fork, but the rest have negative or zero dynamics, and the share of internal turnover is less than 50%. They are likely to survive and live well, but with the current political troubles, they cannot be considered completely reliable.

Assets

This is no longer a percentage, relative indicator, but an absolute one, in rubles. Assets are everything that the bank holds in reserve and puts into circulation, and that can be returned to it in one way or another. For example, a mortgage issued to someone is among the assets, debt obligations and rights of claim (promissory notes) of reliable manufacturing companies are also. And a trust loan, say, a credit card or a consumer loan without collateral or guarantors, cannot be considered an asset. This is the pure financial risk of the bank for the sake of profit.

Here again, Russia's capacity for complete autarky comes into play. This is due to the fact that the speed of money turnover can be ignored and the reliability of the bank can be accurately determined by the ratio of its value of its assets to the size of the money supply in circulation. To an economist accustomed to the complex interrelationships of the market, such an approach will certainly surprise, if not outrage, but for a consumer citizen it is quite reliable.

And what should that attitude be? I don't know what it looks like from an economic point of view, but double the margin, as a percentage, relative to the minimum allowable level of liquidity, should be enough to withstand any upheavals. Ie, since the National Bank issued at the beginning of the year 8 trillion. 314 billion rubles, the bank must accumulate assets of at least 1.628 trillion. rub. or 1,628 billion rubles.

To date, there are 7 such banks: Sberbank, VTB, Gazprombank, VTB24, Rosselkhozbank, Bank of Moscow and Alfa Bank. The rest of the assets are less than 1 trillion. rub., i.e. they are way behind. But Sberbank, as they say, is two laps ahead of everyone: it has collected almost 18 trillion. assets! This is more than two full cash flows, so Sberbank is able to withstand any stagnation. The closest to it - VTB - 8 trillion. does not gain, only 5 with something, i.e. with a complete collapse of the ruble, without state aid and forced regulation, it will last for about a quarter.

Capital

Capital is an instantly liquid property denominated in rubles (the same rubles, currency, bank metals) at the disposal of the bank. Simply put, this is how much money the bank can issue in cash. Capital is important not only as a basis for calculating liquidity, but also in and of itself.

Liquidity, figuratively speaking, is the reserve of engine power, which makes it possible to drive on a bad road for a long time. And capital is a running gear that allows potholes to slip through without getting stuck. After all, suddenly force majeure, not all the same depositors immediately rush to withdraw their cash? Someone will wait, and someone else will play for an increase. And if the cash desk cannot issue anything, that’s it, the bank has gone bankrupt, and what will then be returned according to the obligations of customers will go to the assignees.

The amount of capital sufficient to “slip through the pothole” refers to the amount of assets necessary for sustainability (see previous, 1.628 trillion rubles) in the amount of the current average interest rate on deposits; at the moment - 8.1%. What will give a capital of 131 billion rubles. with little. In terms of capital, Unicredit also turns out to be reliable, except for all the same ones.

Loans to individuals

Trust loans are also a double-edged sword. On the one hand, they reduce reliability: the probability of non-return is high. On the other hand, the easier it is to get a loan for an ordinary consumer, the more people go to this bank, and the expansion of the circle of clientele gives an increase in the inflow of funds, which more than compensates for non-returns. Therefore, the reliability of a bank in terms of the share of loans to individuals very much depends on the breadth of its clientele, the number of branches, ATMs, and even the degree of competence and courtesy of employees.

Because of this, the range of values for the allowable share of physical loans is large - from 1% to 50% - and the calculation for a particular bank is complicated. In general, the more clients a financial institution has, the greater the percentage of physical loans it can afford. But a bank that neglects physical loans and is too tied to business will survive force majeure, if it does, then it will be very painful. After all, whatever one may say, money is the result of labor and is ultimately provided by the labor of ordinary citizens.

I must say that Russian banks, taught by the crisis, no longer go for 50% of physical loans. Savings, and he keeps in the region of 45-46%. Beyond the lower boundary of the fork, in addition to those given above, there are also Russian Standard, Promsvyazbank, and HKF Bank.

Who is stronger?

The selection criteria applied above are by no means all of those used by professional analysts. But my set has an interesting and useful feature for an ordinary member of society:

  • if the bank converges in all respects, it is absolutely reliable;
  • if it converges in two or more, it is quite reliable;
  • if at least one is available, it is quite reliable.

Simply put, you can immediately distinguish for yourself excellent students with good students who can turn into each other, and solid C students, from whom there is always a sense too. And shining with insights, but careless, having time from time to time and stubborn losers leave. So, pp. 1 and 2 - reliable banks:

Reliable banks

  • Sberbank,
  • VTB and VTB24,
  • Rosselkhozbank,
  • Gazprombank,
  • Bank of Moscow,
  • Alfa Bank,
  • Raffeisen,
  • Uralsib.

Reliable enough

  • Unicredit,
  • home loan,
  • Promsvyazbank,
  • Citibank,
  • Russian standard,
  • Rosbank,

Enough means that these banks can also be trusted completely. In fact, the selection system is binary: reliable - unreliable, and the sequence of enumeration in the lists does not reflect any "rating".

And in currency?

And how to choose a reliable bank for operations with currency and / or abroad? In this case, it is better, without further ado, to use the Forbes bank reliability rating; they know better there “over the hill”, and, as already mentioned, they know their business:

  • Citibank,
  • Nordea Bank,
  • HSBC,
  • Gazprombank,
  • Sberbank,
  • Rosselkhozbank,
  • VTB 24,
  • UniCredit Bank,
  • Rosbank.

As you can see, "Bah! All familiar faces! Only the sequence has changed; this list is built according to the Forbes rating. They also operate with "transparency". How they understand it is their business, banks are still reliable.

anti-reliability

To these, I include banks that are publicized, but according to all reports, they are completely unreliable. Surprisingly, there were only two of them: Renaissance Credit and Tinkoff Credit Systems. In addition to poor objective indicators, a lot of complaints can be found online about rudeness, incompetence, unauthorized changes to contracts without notice, hidden commissions, and cards that are not protected from fraudsters.

Outcome

There is no doubt about the reliability of all the banks mentioned in the article. As well as quite a few other big ones not mentioned. And your closest, dear reader, a small local bank can also be quite reliable. And very profitable.

And, if the material of the article helps you find one and make a profitable investment, it means that I was not in vain.
